A history of every banned card in the One Piece Card Game
River TCG Team·
Bandai maintains a running archive of every card it has banned in the ONE PIECE Card Game, grouped by the date each ban took effect. It's a useful map of how the competitive environment has been steered over the years — below is a rundown of each wave and the reasoning behind it, in our own words.
Effective 1 April 2025
OP06-086 Gecko Moria — A staple of black decks since release, it let players open up a huge board advantage far too easily, swinging the character count in one play. Bandai also judged that designing an 8-cost card to rival it would be tough, so it was banned.
OP07-045 Jinbe — Paired with leaders like OP01-060 Donquixote Doflamingo or ST17-005 Marshall.D.Teach, it flooded the early board and produced lopsided games. As a 4-cost card that puts characters into play, Bandai saw little room to design an equal without power creep, so it was banned.
OP02-117 Ice Age — The only card able to slash a character's cost so dramatically for just 1 cost. Its synergy with cost-dependent effects threatened to constrain future design, leading to a ban.
EB01-059 Kingdom Come — On its own a normal removal event, but alongside leader OP05-098 Enel the combination proved stronger than intended and risked limiting future high-cost character design. Banned.
Effective 6 September 2024
ST10-001 Trafalgar Law — This leader both removed opposing characters to the bottom of the deck (bypassing trash and On K.O. effects) and played characters straight from hand, building an advantage that was hard to answer. With the growing card pool it outclassed other leaders, so it was banned.
OP03-098 Enies Lobby — Played mainly with OP08-079 Rob Lucci, it could grind down opponents' costs all game from a hard-to-remove Stage slot, warping games out of proportion to its reliability. Banned.
Effective 21 June 2024
OP05-041 Sakazuki — A low-risk draw engine of a leader whose blue/black package combined cost reduction and bottom-of-deck removal into a deck stronger than expected, producing one-sided games. Banned.
ST06-015 Great Eruption — The only cost-reducer that asked for no hand cost and no conditions, making it powerful at every stage and lowering the risk of removal for black decks. As the most-used cost reducer, it was banned.
OP06-116 Reject — Its "deal 1 damage" line gave trigger-heavy yellow decks an easy finisher and boosted their win rate, and Bandai felt the low cost of ignoring offence and defence caused more player frustration than intended. Banned.
