Bandai's Card Games Division has issued an official notice to players about the growing problem of counterfeit and unauthorised One Piece Card Game products, along with a set of regulations covering what will and will not be tolerated.
Why now
The game launched in 2022 and is now into its third year, and Bandai frames the message as a shared responsibility between the company, players and the ONE PIECE licensors to keep the franchise healthy. The trigger is concrete: Bandai says it has confirmed cases of products that copy or imitate official card designs being sold and handed out on e-commerce marketplaces, at event venues and in similar places.
What the regulations cover
The notice lays down two clear prohibitions, which in plain terms are:
- No selling or distributing cards, accessories or other goods that are copied from or derived from Bandai's official card designs without authorisation.
- No selling or distributing cards, accessories or other goods that use ONE PIECE characters or related elements without authorisation.
What it means at events
Products that fall foul of the above will not be allowed at official One Piece Card Game tournaments and events going forward. Bandai also notes that publishing these rules is not the same as granting permission or waiving any of its legal rights, and that the regulations may be revised as circumstances and legal considerations change.
For anyone buying singles or sealed product, the practical takeaway is simple: stick to legitimate, official cards from trusted sources.
